When is Kajari Teej actually celebrated?
As per the Gregorian Calendar, Kajari Teej 2020 is on the 6th of August month. During the lunar month of Bhadrapada, Kajari Teej is celebrated on the third day of the dark fortnight.
Kajari Teej Significance
According to the mythological story, before marrying Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva told her to prove her devoutness towards him. Therefore, Goddess Parvati observed great penance for 108 years to prove her love and devotion towards Lord Shiva.
Lord Shiva was impressed by her devotion and dedication towards him and he married Goddess Parvati. The holy union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place during the Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapad Month which is celebrated as Kajari Teej.

On the auspicious occasion of Kajari Teej, women should worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Fast should be observed by women to appease Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on this day. Feeding wheat and jaggery to cows on this day is considered to be auspicious. Women adore their houses with swings and they enjoy the swing by singing traditional folk songs.
