What Is Sri Yantra? Symbol Of Sri Yantra, Its Importance, And Types
What is the Sri Yantra Symbol?
Yantra is a Sanskrit word that means “support”, “machine” or an “instrument”. Said to be the most important, auspicious and powerful symbol Sri Yantra is composed of the nine interlocking triangles which radiate outwards from the center point or the bind point. This is the point where the physical world and the spiritual world meet or unite together.
Of the nine triangles, only 4 triangles point upwards or to the sky signifying the divine masculine deity Lord Shiva. On the other hand, the other 5 triangles are a representation of Shakti or the feminine that point downwards. Hence, this highly effective Sri Yantra is said to denote the Union of Shiva & Shakti, the union of masculine & feminine divine.
All these triangles when interlocked with each other lead to the formation of 43 smaller triangles, representing the home of the complete universe or Cosmos. Furthermore, these triangles are surrounded by eight Lotus petals, whereas the larger ring of 16 then envelops both, finally forming a geometrical structure that looks like a temple consisting of four doors.
