When is Hariyali Teej actually celebrated?

As per the Gregorian Calendar, Hariyali Teej 2020 falls on 23rd of the July month. This day falls on the 3rd day of the first fortnight in the month of Shravan. This day is celebrated in the honour of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Hariyali Teej brings a new and endearing look for mother earth and the women of North Indian states like Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh Celebrates this festival with true adherence and pleasure. This blissful day is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati as it marks the reunion of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

On the auspicious occasion of Hariyali Teej, Lord Shiva finally recognized Goddess Parvati as her wife after her 108 births. Women worship and offer prayers on Hariyali Teej to Lord Shiva for a happy and blissful married life.

What to do on Hariyali Teej

Women should wake up early in the morning and take a bath. They should wear traditional clothes on this day. Worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with true dedication and devotion. They should chant mantras and slokas to plead Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

On this Sacred day, women should observe Nirjala Vrat for a period of 24 hours. While observing the Nirjala Vrat, they are not allowed to eat food, not even a single drop of water.

Also, women wear bridal clothes and they visit their parents’ house. Parents offer various gifts along with blessings to their daughter and son-in-law on this auspicious day of Hariyali Teej. In some of the places, women celebrate this festival by enjoying swings.
