Dev Diwali or Dev Deepawali arrives after 15 days of Diwali which marks the victory of Lord Shiva over demon Tripurasura. It is celebrated with great devotion on the river banks of holy Ganga in the city of Varanasi. The festival of Dev Diwali holds immense spiritual significance. When is Dev Diwali actually celebrated?

As per the Gregorian Calendar, Dev Diwali 2020 falls on the 29th of November month. According to the Hindu Panchang, the Dev Diwali festival is celebrated on the full moon night in the month of Karthik.

The most important part of this highly religious festival is Ganga Aarti which is performed by 24 priests and 24 young girls with absolute holiness and devotion in the honor of river Ganga.

Adoring the full moon on this day is the most significant part of Dev Diwali. People of Varanasi decorate their house with earthen lamps and beautifully drawn Rangolis. Devotees recite Akhanda Ramayana and distribute Bhog to others on this sacred occasion of Dev Diwali.
