Out of the 27 nakshatras, Vishakha is the 16th nakshatra in the constellation. It consists of the four stars in the constellation of Libra; namely Alpha, Beta, Gamma & the Iota Librae and form a “forked branch” than can be seen under the bright star Spica. This nakshatra is extended from 20 degrees Libra to 3.20 degrees in Scorpio.

Jupiter is the ruling planet of this nakshatra with Satragni, also called as Indragni- a leaf decked triumphal gate being Vishakha nakshatra lord.
