The day of Tula Sankranti is also considered auspicious to take a holy dip in the TalaKaveri. On this day when the Sun enters Tula Rashi, water in the TalaKaveri springs up and devotees collect this water as it is believed that there are medicinal values in the water. Women in Karnataka offer coconut and other holy materials to the Kaveri river.

What to do on Tula Sankranti

On this occasion of Tula Sankranti, devotees worship Goddess Laxmi and Goddess Parvati. Farmers and their families invoke gods for good fertility and protection from natural disasters. Devotees offer fresh rice grains, wheat grains, and Branches of Kara plant to Goddess Lakshmi. Also, they offer betel leaves, palm nuts, sandalwood paste, vermillion paste, and bangles to Goddess Parvati.

Farmers offer prayer to gods for good growth of crops and protection from natural disasters. To avoid the deficiency in the future, farmers of Odisha present the yield of wheat, rice, and other grains to Goddess Lakshmi on this auspicious day. Donating food grains and clothes to needy people on Tula Sankranti is considered highly auspicious.
