In India, Pitru Paksha is one of the events that people eagerly look forward to. This period begins with the Purnima of the Bhadrapada month and continues for 16 days till Amavasya. Most Hindu scriptures described that during this period, ancestors from the Pitru Lok come all the way to earth to visit their descendants. They eagerly wait for their family members to perform Shradh and offer tarpan so that they can be relieved of the sufferings of hunger.
If these rituals are not performed, ancestors get upset and thus, the family members start facing problems in their life. Pitru Paksha is specially dedicated for performing shradh ceremonies since one can get multiple benefits during this period.
