The mandir at home brings in positive energy and makes one feel safe.

Having a mandir as a part of a house or an office is always the best idea. The mandir(temple) brings in positive energy and connects you to the almighty God. It develops a sense of safety and security and welcomes good luck.

However, if the mandir is built as per the Vaastu Shastra, it benefits us by letting out positive energy and brings happiness into our lives.

Here are a few points that are to be considered while setting up the mandir.

The height of the mandir

The mandir should be built at an appropriate height. The height should be such that the base of the idols should be at the level of a person’s chest. If the height of the mandir is above this, then it becomes very difficult to see the idols face and if it is below the chest level, it is considered as disrespecting the gods.

A temple made of wood is much preferred

According to Vastu Shastra, using wood in the construction of a temple is believed to be more religious and auspicious. Wood brings in good luck. One can even construct a temple using marble as it is a natural element.

Placement of lamps

One should always place the lamps, diyas or candles on the south-eastern side of the mandir. As this direction is believed to be more auspicious and attracts positivity and showers happiness.

The direction for placing the mandir

The direction for placing the mandir is the most important point that one should keep in mind. For setting up a mandir, always prefer the north-eastern or eastern part of the home as these directions are filled with positive energy.

If one does not have the space to allocate an entire room for the temple, one can set up a small altar on the east wall, towards the north-east zone of the house. Avoid placing the temple in the south, south-west or south-east zones of the house. Apart from this, one should ensure that there are no multiple idols of the same God or Goddess, either in a seating or standing position in the temple. The idol or photos placed in the temple should not be cracked or damaged, as it is considered to be inauspicious.
