Significance of Raksha Bandhan as per the Vedic astrology
Raksha Bandhan is a festival celebrated by brothers and sisters where in the sister ties a sacred thread on the wrist of her brother and seeks blessings. The name of the festival, Raksha Bandhan is made up of two words, Raksha (Protection) and Bandhan (Relation). This festival is celebrated on the full-moon day of the Shravan month. As per the Puranas, on this day goddess Lakshmi tied raki to King Bali.
It is stated that on the day of Shravan Purnima high-speed frequencies are triggered in the universe and the elements generated because of the friction are of high frequencies. These particles are then discharged into the atmosphere and they create a covering on the ground. This is known as Raksha.
On the day of Raksha Bandhan, the brother promises to protect the sister and allows her to tie the holy thread on his wrist. This festival strengthens the bond between the brother and the sister. The rakhi marks purity of a relationship between a sister and brother.
Every member of the family rises early on the day of the festival to accomplish the rituals that begin in the morning. A special thali is organized for the pooja ceremony and is beautifully decorated with rice grains, ‘diya’, sweets and rakhis.
Girls who are the only child of their parents or those who do not have a brother as a sibling usually tie rakhis to their cousins or somebody who they claim to be their brothers. This festival helps siblings realize the importance of growing up together.
Both the sister and brother get an advantage of the frequencies that are generated by the rakhi. So, one must select rachis that includes principles of God and not simply gets attracted to the ones which are available in the market.
Nowadays, rakhis are available in various designs, shapes, and colours. Some of the rakhis are decorated with ‘Om’ or pictures of deities and after using it for a few days they are thrown away. One must not dump them where ever they want as it is considered as a sin. Hence, one must immerse rakhis in flowing water.
