Significance of Maha Shivaratri

Maha Shivaratri is a festival of worshipping Lord Shiva. On this auspicious night, disciples of Lord Shiva remain awake the whole night and chant the holy name of the Lord. Various poojas and meditation are performed to appease Lord Shiva. These holy rituals bring in a sense of togetherness among people not only in our country but all over the world.

Many mythological tales round Shiva. Even as every of those stories is significant, it is regarded that Lord Shiva is not a person, however he is the very energy on which the complete advent rests. This energy infuses the complete universe and resides within every living being. This purest form of energy is called the Shiva Tattva.

Symbolism of Lord Shiva

Lord Shiva is regarded as the soul of the entire universe and hence there is no distinction between our soul and Lord Shiva. Due to the very fact that Lord Shiva symbolizes truth, harmony, exquisiteness, and eternity, he is believed to be the representator of the essence within us and it is what we're are all created of. By worshipping Lord Shiva these are some of the qualities that we apprehend these best qualities in ourselves.

What is Maha Shivaratri all about?

The word Ratri signifies ‘night’ and also 'to take shelter.' On the auspicious night of Shivaratri we take shelter in our spirit i.e., Shiva. It is the time when we rejoice the soul or attention inside. Throughout the festivities of Maha Shivaratri, people try to take themselves to the safe haven of the divine focus. One can perform this in two ways: one is by meditation (sadhana) and the other is to submit to oneself to the almighty. Here submitting is all about having faith that there is a heavenly power that is keeping an eye on us and takes care of us. Meditation and submission bestow peace and solace to us and help us to understand the genuine significance of Mahashivaratri.

On Mahashivaratri it is believed that Shiv Tattva comes in contact with the earth. It is also by far stated that our focus or aura is usually ten inches above the material ground. However, on this day realization inclines and touches the earth. Hence, it is considered a good time for our internal cognizance to get alive inside our body.

Why should one meditate during Maha Shivaratri?

Meditation is the only way that will make you experience something that is beyond ones thinking capacity. There comes a time while meditation when we enjoy liberty: a space of nothingness and love. This freedom takes us to the fourth level of realization that is also called Shiva.
