The most adorable child of Maa Parvati and Lord Shiva; Ganpati is known by various names like Ekdanth, Vigneshwara, Lambodara, Balachandra, Vinayak, Gajanan and the list goes on. It is mentioned in the Vedic scriptures that trinities along with gods and goddesses have given Lord Ganpati the boon that he would be the first to be worshipped in any puja. It is because Ganesh Ji wipes off the hindrances and ensures that the work or event goes well. Hence, the deity is also called Vighnaharta.
Lord Ganpati is one of the favorite deities of Hindus. The image or idol of Lord Ganapati must be placed on a clean altar covered with an orange color cloth. A ghee lamp must be lit in front of the deity and holy materials like kumkum, turmeric, sandalwood paste, fresh flowers, and durva grass are offered.
The powerful Ganesh Beej mantra “ Om Gan Ganapatey Namah” must be chanted and aarti must be performed. Ladoo or modak must be presented as naivedyam to the lord and then must be consumed as prasad.
