The nakshatras are one of the oldest references of astrology from the Rig Veda, dating back about 5,000 years ago. The Vedas are the religious scriptures of the great seers and sages of India. The nakshatras are like the zodiacal signs but more specific. Their meanings are derived from the constellations, fixed stars and the mythology behind these portions in the sky.

Each Nakshatra reveals certain wishes or desires that those who are born under them are inclined to have. In the Vedas, each Nakshatra deity reflects these wishes that those who worship this deity and its Nakshatra will gain prosperity in life. Let’s have a look at few of the nakshatras:

The people who are born under the nakshatra Bharani look forward to being respected by their elders and by their peers. Yama is the deity of death and discipline.

People born under Kritika nakshatra provide nourishment and the power to digest food. Agni represents the digestive fire and fire as a cosmic principle.

Rohini is a Nakshatra of love, passion, and sexuality that is generally fertile and creative but cannot tolerate others rude behaviour. Because of this though it is very productive it draws jealously upon others. Prajapati is the Creator among the Vedic deities.

Those born under Mrigashirsha nakshatra must worship Soma, as it signifies delight or enjoyment. They can be truly exhilarating and entertaining leaders, shining on others like the Moon.

Rudra is the lord of the wild animals and all things wild, strange or disturbing and also the ruler if the Ardra nakshatra. Therefore people born under this nakshatra need to seek control over them. Rudra is the fierce form of Lord Shiva.
