Meaning of snake in dreams in Hinduism

Dreams are nothing but the stories which are created in our minds while we are asleep. However, dreams sometimes leave behind their influence due to which we keep thinking about the same during the day and even try to find the meaning of the dream.

Every one of us get dreams sometimes they are funny and sometimes they are very horrifying. The most common dream one gets is of the snakes. Snakes are poisonous animals and their movement is unpredictable hence seeing snakes in dreams often leaves people petrified. The dreams wherein you see snakes can be interpreted on the basis of your personal connectivity with the reptile and the culture that you follow.

Snake’s instant striking quality is what makes one get scared of them and for most us just the image of snake is enough to have sleepless nights. In Hinduism, dreaming of snakes means something unpredictable and uncontrollable is going to take place in one’s life. There is a positive side to this dream which explains that just like snakes shed their old skins and get a new one, transformation will take place in your life too.

The meaning of the dream might change with the colour of the snake that you see in your dream. Seeing a black snake in dream is a signal that you must be careful as negative developments are about to take place in your life.

White snake in dream indicates that the person is finding it difficult to handle the suppressed mind. They might feel that everything is calm and content from the surface but things may not be the same underneath. White snakes are also the representation of the power within you.

You might have come across people complaining of having dreams where they see a snake biting them. The dream of snake bite signifies that the individual is going to witness tough times and if proper precautions are not taken then things may get worse as well. Another point that is to be noted is, once the person wakes up and is complaining about the pain of the bite or burning sensation it means the problem is much bigger than what it seemed.

Killing snakes in dream is another common thing which people always tell off. However, in Hindu culture, it is believed that killing snakes in dreams denotes marriage. It is a signal that the person or somebody in the family is going to get married very shortly.
