Importance of performing Shradh on the Tritiya Tithi
Shradh is all about remembering and respecting our ancestors for the good work they did while they were alive and expressing gratitude for their blessings that they shower on us from across the borders of life and death. Though Shradh ceremonies are performed in the specific month and tithi when the family member left for a heavenly abode however during Pitru Paksha special shradh is performed on the particular tithi so that they can be blessed profusely by the ancestors.
Tritiya shradh is popularly known as Teej Shradh. This Tritiya shradh is performed for those family members who had passed away on the Tritiya Tithi irrespective of the Pakshas. Tritiya Shradh is on 16th September this year (2019).
Hinduism follows the rituals of shradh ceremony very strictly and is made compulsory. One who fails to perform shradh for the ancestors will fall prey to the Pitru shraap that further results in failure in whatever you do and the families will go through a lot of sufferings. One can get rid of the ill effects by performing Shradh ceremony without fail.
Importance of Pitru Paksha Shradh
There are many stories in Hindu mythology to narrate the significance of Pitru Paksha. It is said that three generations of the deceased ancestors stay in the Pitru Lok (ancestral world) and visit earth during this auspicious period of Pitru Paksha. Thus, performing Shradh and Tarpan during this favorable period will immensely gratify ancestors and will get their blessings for the overall welfare of the family.
