Fed up of long term ailments??? Chant Kala Bhairava Mantras to lead a healthy life

The name Kala Bhairava refers to the God of time. In Sanskrit Kala means Time and Bhairava is Lord Shiva. The name itself states that almighty Lord Shiva has complete command over the entire universe and is the destructor of the evil spirits. Lord Mahadev took this fierceful manifestation of Kala Bhairava to teach Lord Brahma a lesson.

According to the legends; the trinities Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara got into an argument as to who was the supreme among them. Shivji said that he was the superior, listening to this Lord Vishnu took a step back but Brahma Dev did not agree to Shivji’s statement. The argument went on and to bring it to control even sages and other Gods intervened but Lord Brahma refused to accept Lord Shiva to be supreme.

Angered Shiva embodied himself as fearful Kala Bhairava sitting on a dreadful black dog and chopped off Brahma Dev’s fifth head with his nails. The skull of Brahma got stuck in the nail of Kala Bhairava and is called Brahma Kapala. This act of Kala Bhairava destroyed the ego of Lord Brahma.

It is not true that Kala Bhairava is an angry deity, he can be appeased easily and the lord bestows his true devotees all the comforts of life. The best time to worship Kala Bhairava is during the Rahu kala especially on Sundays. People recite the bhairav mantra for protection from enemies and to come out of their sufferings. It is advised to offer black sesame oil/seeds, mustard oil, sindoor, flowers, coconuts and other holy materials during the Kala Bhairava puja.
