Chaturdashi Shradh – Importance and benefits

Pitru Paksha as we all know is a period of a fortnight that starts from Purnima and extends till Amavasya in the month of Bhadrapada. The significance of Pitru Paksha is irrespective of the Pakshas, Shradh ceremony can be performed on the specific tithi. This Pitru Paksha shradh is also called as Mahalaya Paksha Shradh and ceremonies performed during this period are believed to bestow immense benefits to people who perform it with true faith and sanctification.

If any person has failed to pay rites to the ancestors or was not able to perform the shradh ceremonies of the ancestors regularly, it can be compensated by performing shradh on the respective tithis during Pitru Paksha. These are also called as Parvan Shraddhas and the right time for shradh ceremonies during this period are the Kutup Muhurt or Rohina Muhurt.

Chaturdashi Shradh is performed for those family members who died on the Chaturdashi tithi of any month. In fact, the performers of shradh will enormously be blessed. During this year, the Chaturthi Shradh falls on 27th September 2019
