Are you aware of the Panchak Dosha?

According to Vedic astrology, every month there is a period of five days when the Moon changes its position from the zodiac Aquarius to Pisces and these five days are known as Panchak. These five days are considered to be inauspicious and the people born during this period will have doshas in their horoscope.

During Panchak, Moon transits through five nakshatras which are the last two padas of Dhanishtha, Shatabisha, Purvabhadrapada, Utrabhadrapada, and Revati. This Panchak is also called Dhanishta Panchak and people born in this nakshatra during this doshakal are believed to be physically disabled. If Panchak is in Shatabisha Nakshatra then natives of the star constellation will experience problems at home and there would be conflicts between the family members.

With Panchak in Purvabhadrapada Nakshatra, natives will health issues and if in Utrabhadrapada, the person will have to bear losses. Revati Nakshatra people will experience loss in their business when Panchak is in the respective constellation.

It is also mentioned in the Vedic scriptures “Rajmartanda” that one should avoid carrying out activities like construction of the roof, fuel restoration, and journey towards the south direction during Panchak as it creates a fear of fire to the person doing it. Astrologers also advise avoiding laying of pillars and planning for the wedding.

Other activities that are restricted during Panchak are cutting of woods, performing pujas to get rid of negative energies, purchasing of items made up of brass and bronze. Also, it would be better to avoid commencing new ventures, accepting promotions, transfer, and ceremonies like house warming or any other auspicious functions.

It is stated that Sage Garg has explained in his writings as if an event whether good or bad is performed during Panchak it must have to be repeated five times. For example, if a person dies during Panchak then the family members must make 5 more replicas using flour or Kusha grass and are to be burnt or buried during the cremation of the body.

So, one must confirm from an expert astrologer the time of Panchak and the ways to get rid of the ill effects of Panchak. However, here are a few remedies for Panchak:

  • If one cannot avoid traveling to the south, then the person should pray to Lord Hanuman before starting the journey.
  • If you are planning to buy wooden materials during Panchak then it is advised to perform havan of Maa Gayatri before doing the same.
  • If you cannot avoid the construction work during Panchak then distribute sweets among the workers before beginning the construction.
