It is said that if the Chaturthi falls in the month of Margashirsha as per the Purnimanta calendar & Kartika as per the Amanta calendar, at the time of Krishna Paksha then it is said to be Ganadhipa Sankashti Chaturthi.

Vidhis to be performed

The devotees who observe fast on Sankashti Chaturthi have to follow some of the rituals to be performed to get free of all the problems in their life.

  1. Wake up early in the morning, bathe and wear fresh & clean clothes.
  2. Start either partial or complete day Vrat starting from sunrise to sunset.
  3. Break the Vrat once you get the sight of the moon in the evening.
  4. Worship Lord Ganesha, chant mantras, and visit temples.
  5. Just before performing the puja, take bath late in the evening.
  6. Light the Diya or the lamp of oil in front of the idol of Lord Ganesha.
  7. Meditate, pray & invoke the Lord for the blessings and start the rituals.
  8. Dress the idol in new clothes, Janeyu & adorn with Durva grass or Bermuda Grass.
  9. Offer especially red flowers, Haldi-Kumkum, Chandan, incense sticks, and dhoop.
  10. Prepare Modak, which are Ganpati’s favorite food items & offer Him.
  11. Additionally, offer bananas, coconut, paan, supari & coins.
  12. Finally, conclude the pooja by singing the Aarti & then break the Vrat.
