About the Puja

Lord Bhairav is known as the Keeper of time or the Lord of time and holds a very prominent place in the Hindu Mythology. Kaal Bhairav is another name that depicts time. He is believed to protect the universe form eight directions, hence is the guardian of the universe. He is also known to protect cardinal points and is an avatar of Lord Shiva. The auspicious day of Kaal Bhairav Ashtami, if a devotee offers wine or milk at the Siddh Prachin Bhairon temple, which is situated at the opposite of Pragati Maidan, outside the Purana Quila of New Delhi.

Bhaiton Temple is the only temple in the country, where alcohol is allowed as a part of the offerings. This alcohol is later distributed among the devotees in the form of prasada.
