Panchami festival is celebrated to please & worship Goddess Lakshmi, the “Goddess of Wealth”. Also known as Shri Panchami and Kalpadi Tithi, Chaitra Shukla Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha in Chaitra month.

According to the Hindu Panchanga, including Gudi Padwa/Ugadi and Akshaya Tritiya days, there are a total of seven Kalpadi days.

Important Facts

Just before worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, you need to wake up early, take bath and wear clean clothes. Before starting the fast, you should chant Stotras & mantras of Goddess Lakshmi

The place where the idol of the Goddess is to be worshipped should be cleaned. The idol should be cleaned with Panchamrut which is made of honey, yogurt, ghee, milk and sugar and then placed on the platform.

Then, offer banana leaves, garland, flowers, sandalwood, betel nut, rice, Durva, red thread, coconut, supari and Bhog to the Devi. later, offer food to the Brahmanas along with money as Dakshina.

Those observing fast on this day should consume only fresh fruits, milk, and sweets. Regular food like roti, rice, garlic or onion should not be consumed.
